Designing the Future, Living the Century - Stimulating Creative Ideas of Students from Foundation Enhancement Class of Qingdao No. 6 Middle School

A group of teachers and students from Qingdao No. 6 Middle School visited Tsinghua (Qingdao) Academy of Arts and Science Innovation Research (TASA) in the afternoon of January 6. This event was co-organized by TASA and Qingdao No. 6 Middle School to build a practical platform of arts and science for teachers and students from local schools, empower education development in Qingdao, and enhance students' aesthetic perception and creative practical abilities through visits and learning.

The students first visited six exhibitions, including Designing the Future, Living the Century - Excellent Achievements Exhibition of Future Human Settlement Culture and Industry, Exhibition of Works from 2024 Graduates of the Department of Environmental Art Design, Academy of Art&Design, Tsinghua University (AADTHU), Outstanding Achievements Exhibition by the Future Human Habitat Culture and Industry Development Alliance, and Permanent Exhibition of Excellent Achievements for Future Human Settlement Environment of Tsinghua Human Settlement Centenary. They also visited outstanding achievement exhibitions hosted by TASA that gather wisdom and creativity from various parties, such as the International Works Exhibition: Where Art Meets Science, A Better Future Is Created, Chinese Style Art and Design Works Exhibition, and Exhibition of Excellent Students’ Works of Inclusive Design.

All kinds of exhibits on display, with their unique and novel innovative design concepts and technological applications representing the forefront of the times, left students dazzled and greatly benefited. The unprecedented design concepts and high-tech applications showcased by numerous exhibits tremendously broadened the students' horizons and thinking boundaries.

Under the deep and detailed explanations of TASA's staff, the students realized that excellent design is not only novelty in appearance, but rather focuses on the high degree of harmony and unity of function and aesthetics. Students couldn't help but marvel at the fruitful results created by the perfect fusion of design and technology, which also provided them with a fresh perspective and dimension in examining and understanding the connotation and value of design, and made their cognition of design art to a brand-new level.

The teachers and students from Qingdao No. 6 Middle School expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the support given by TASA. With its profound academic background, rich academic resources, and forward-looking scientific research results, TASA played a key role in this exchange activity. It offered students an opportunity to learn about art and science, giving back to the local education cause with practical actions, and fostering the collision and fusion of art and science in the perception of teachers and students.
